WP2: The Virtual Laser Infrastructure:

The goal is to present LASERLAB-EUROPE as a “Virtual Laser Infrastructure”, going beyond traditional networking concepts. The approach maps the essential organisational and networking functions onto a common internet platform, allowing for the network to act and appear as a functional unit with respect to all relevant activities like management, networking, access to the facilities, and research.

WP3: Publicity and Dissemination

This activity comprises all measures through which the LASERLAB initiative presents itself to the outside world, and attracts customers for its main operational fields, JRA and Access. In particular, a biannual newsletter is published, and the results of the JRA and Access projects are published.

WP4: Scientific and Technological Exchanges

The objective is to pool know-how and best practices, both for essential practical issues such as security, laboratory management, data acquisition procedures, etc., as well as for crucial scientific issues of relevance for many LASERLAB-EUROPE participants.

WP5: User Community Training and Human Resources Development

In order to increase the efficiency of Access, and to give an equal opportunity to all potential Users, this training action specifically addresses new Users. The activities offer training for new research groups, e.g. from new members states within the EC or from multi-disciplinary scientific disciplines such as biology and medicine whose participation in the Access program is gradually increasing, and young scientists at the doctoral or post-doctoral level.

WP6: Access Management and Monitoring Infrastructure-Users Connections

This activity aims at monitoring the quality of services provided to Users by Access providing infrastructures at the Consortium level. Transnational Access being an essential service to the community, this activity is implemented in close collaboration with the User Representatives.

WP7: Foresight Activities

Foresight Activities aim at planning the future of the field, of the participating infrastructures and of their mutual interaction, synergies and complementarities.

WP8: Network of National Contact Points

The network of National Contact Points (NCPs) acts as an information bridge between the LASERLAB-EUROPE Consortium and the national science and policy bodies in countries with emerging laser communities.

WP9: International Relations

The aim of this activity is to create links to laser-related communities and networks outside Europe, in order to promote laser science and research beyond Europe, to exchange information on best practices on a global scale and to increase the international recognition of LASERLAB-EUROPE.
