Call for Access to Phelix, GSI
Applications are invited for beam time at the PHELIX laser facility in 2010
PHELIX will provide access for combined laser- and heavy-ion beam experiments at the Z6 target station of the UNILAC heavy-ion accelerator. Pulses of up to1 kJ with a duration between 1 and 10 nanosecond can be delivered at the Z6 experimental area, synchronized with heavy-ion pulses up to 12 MeV/u.
In addition, compressed laser pulses are obtainable at energies up to 200 J in the laser hall. Pulse durations between ~ 500 fs and also several ps can be provided, and also double pulses with a spacing of 100 ps to 2 ns can be also delivered. At this location some limitations on space and the maximum focused intensity (radiation protection) have to be considered.
Closing date for beam time applications for 2010 is August 8th 2009

Access will be open to both German and international users on a collaborative basis. Access to the facility to eligible users from the EC will include access to beamtime, travel and subsistence costs. These users have to apply for beam time using the Laserlab Europe web interface.
Important Note: If you apply through the LASERLAB Transnational Access Program please include the following document to your general application form and create a single pdf-file. At the end of the electronically submission procedure you will be asked to attach this file to your application.
All other applicants (from Germany and Non-EC-Countries) have to
fill in the webform at http:://www.gsi.de/proposal,
which includes an obligatory Supplementary Form for Safety
Aspects.
